Nielsen announced that next fall it will start tracking viewers watching TV programs on smartphone, tablets and other devices. The media measurement company will use codes embedded by the networks within programs to collect information. Nielsen believes about 6% of audiences are not being counted using traditional metrics. The additional numbers could impact programs that appeal to young people who tend to watch TV on mobile devices. (TVNewsCheck.com, Oct. 29).
